Meet the Literacy Ambassador

When Cathy’s journey began, she had only a dream. A library science degree had been laid aside for nearly 20 years, as she pursued careers that brought more essential cash into the family. Then, with a move to Georgia with a brilliant husband and seven year old son, she had the chance to do somethingentirely different. She began askingwhat do I want to do when I grow up?
The result is TLA, Inc., Home of the Literacy Ambassador. Since 1997, this consulting firm has been dedicated to promoting children’s literacy (reading, writing, listening, communicating and viewing) at every turn. TLA combines a strong foundation in library science with a research-based focus on how children learn to read and write and use language (and how families can help support that process). Uniquely, TLA serves preschool and K-6 parents and educators as well as nonprofits and community organizations. Great passion and enthusiasm for these essential skills and the people who promote and use them has fueled the fire.
Today, TLA, Inc. is a national literacy consulting firm, providing presentations, training, facilitations, consultation, design, and support services to schools and educators, families, and children.
