About Val Sharp
So what is an accountant, triathlete, communications director, investor relations professional, and life coach doing in the redesign business? Good question. I tried numerous careers, trying to find something I loved. I’d been redesigning homes my whole life and finally decided to leave the corporate world to follow my passion. I took some interior design courses, but what I really love is one-day makeovers using what people already own. I decided to focus my business on just those elements and took training specifically in redesign and home staging. Then I started Sharp ReDesigns.
I have been astounded at the effects of redesign on people’s lives. I had one client crying tears of happiness when she came home, saying it’s the first time she’s ever loved her home. Another client said that she hadn’t wanted to get out of bed for two years prior to the redesign. The morning after the redesign, she cheerfully leapt out of bed to start her day. That’s why I love this business – it’s so rewarding!
In 2002 I began training others to start their own redesign and home staging business. At that time there were no instructors in Canada, so I founded the Canadian Redesigners Association so my students would have a supportive environment to help them with their business after the course.
In 2008 I published The Art of Redesign 5 Simple Steps to No Cost Redecorating, so that everyone could have a home they loved.
I am lucky to have helped numerous people live their dream of becoming a decorator and feeling the same excitement and personal satisfaction I’ve felt over the years.
