About Denise Wilson
As a mom, we try to do it all. For example, I teach, do workshops, co-host a weekly radio show, give online teleclasses, write books, blog, tweet, do a weekly newsletter, prepare corporate sponsorships, and raise money for the NBCF. I also am a jazz pianist and mother of 2 small children.
Here are some tips as to how to do it all:
1. Do not Procrastinate!
When you have 5 minutes to do something on your to do list, do it! I used to let things pile up but now I realize that 5 minutes is golden and you can accomplish a LOT if you just put your mind to it!
2. When the Kids Are in Bed, GO!
As soon as your kids heads hit the pillow, RUN to your computer and start getting things done! I do not waste even a second once my kids are in bed. I know that this is very, very precious time and I utilize it most effectively (as per tip #1)!
3. Juice and Eat Healthy.
As you already have a dearth of time on your hands (in other words, NO time… LOL) you really need your body to be functioning at it’s optimum level, so I think of my body as a high-functioning piece of machinery and put only good
things in there. For example, while my kids are munching on their breakfast, I take the time to juice, such as a beet, apple, carrot, ginger juice. A HUGE glass that lasts me until mid morning. This sets up a great precedent for
the day and I feel really great, my mind is sharp, and I can get things done more efficiently.
4. Hire a Moms Helper
Don’t try to do it all when your kids are home and awake. I use to try to get work done when my kids were home, but they need us moms to pay them attention, and they deserve it! Plus, I only did things half-way and ended up feeling like I disappointed both my kids and myself. So, I found a ten year old in the neighborhood to come over for a couple of hours twice a week, during the after school hours, so that I could get some things done. The kids LOVE playing with her and I don’t feel guilty!
5. Get a Headset and Multitask!
While I am returning phone calls, I am also doing the dishes, the laundry, neatening and straightening the house, feeding the cats and preparing meals. I clip the phone onto my pants and I’m handsfree! You will be amazed at how much you can accomplish once you have a headset!

About Denise Wilson22264About Denise Wilson
Growing up, Denise Wilson was always the kind of girl who spent Saturdays in her imagination. She always saw potential in the most ugly things: a scratched and worn wooden school chair, a pair of yellowed sheer curtains, an olive-green plaid pair of men’s trousers. So she would take these things home, and on Saturdays, she would experiment with them. She painted the chair with an intricate pattern to make it lively again. She embroidered the sheer curtains with multi-colored vines. She sewed olive-green lace on the bottoms of the men’s trousers and wore them to school. And while she experimented, she dreamed of who she might be one day, and always envisioned two things: first, working in a creative field; and second, being the owner of her own business. Alas, both of these dreams are broad.
Denise went to college and majored in a highly technical (read:not creative at all) field, and then worked for several years in a highly regulated (read:even less creative) field until her unhappiness became completely overwhelming. Her attitude was terrible and her energy was non-existent; she just always felt bad physically, emotionally, mentally.
It became obvious to Denise and her family that passion and creativity were imperative to her happiness, health, and life. Without it, her spirit faded. So after much thought, Denise returned to her original dream of working in a creative field. For many months, she planned, sought the advice of experts, took classes, and found a mentor. In October of 2006, she announced her plans for Dogwood Blossom Stationery & Invitation Studio, left hercareer in December, and officially registered the business in January 2007.
Today, Dogwood Blossom Stationery & Invitation Studio LLC is a thriving business that creates custom-designed, luxury invitations and paper goods for individuals and businesses. Specializing in color, dimension, and embellishment, Denise works with clients both near and far to exactly capture their vision and allow them to fully express their personality and style. Starting from scratch, she strives for wow.
In August 2008, only a year and a half after going into business, Dogwood Blossom Stationery placed second for Best Wedding Invitations in Central Florida against 18 other stationers. In November 2008, the Studio was named as one of three Businesses of the Year through the local Chamber of Commerce. In April 2008, Denise was awarded with a Vibrant Woman Award for her commitment to helping other women succeed.
Most importantly, Denise has found her passion again. Each morning, she wakes up excited to meet with new clients and work on the next project. Her biggest reward is a thrilled customer who gushes about their guests’ comments on the paper goods. She is so lucky to now be able to spend the workweek in her imagination, seek potential in untraditional themes, and experiment daily with new ideas.
Denise is a member of eWomenNetwork, the Titusville Area Chamber of Commerce, and is a business partner of the Conscious Living Partnership. She is grateful for the support and encouragement of other women on her journey so far, and is thankful to have an extremely supportive and patient husband.
