Winning or Losing
Everyone seems to be talking about the poor economy these days. Recently, I was having a conversation with someone who serves the business community as a consultant. We agreed that this kind of cyclical economyweeds out those businesses who aren’t strong enough to survive the storm. This is a natural cycle, and one that has repeated itself for years.
In order to survive an economy that is in a downturn, a business must find the opportunity that exists in the market. It’s not going to work to continue to do business as usual. There are a multitude of opportunities in any market. A strong business will find those opportunities and capitalize on them.
Another key in a challenging economy is to have a committed staff. When people have passion for the business, they’re more likely to get creative with solutions to keep things afloat. If a negative attitude is pervasive, you’re dying. If people take a positive, solution oriented approach you will survive, and potentially even thrive.
Hiring experts to help you plan for thriving in a challenging economy is also a very effective method for staying in business. Business coaching is never more impactful than when an owner is motivated by the economy. Companies must find a way to stay vital, and oftentimes must constantly reinvent themselves to remain a strong financial performer. Coaches offer a unique perspective, allowing business owners to see what they can’t possibly see by themselves.
Surviving thisrecession is possible. It takes creativity, innovation, open-mindedness, and passion. It takes a positive, solution oriented attitude. It requires a team of devoted leaders who are determined to make lemonade from lemons.
Winners don’t go it alone they align themselves with expertise that will help them reach the next level. It’s easy to be discouraged. Winners don’t allow that emotion in. They find a way to make things work. They understand the challenging conditions, but succeed in spite of them.
Which team are you on? Are you winning or losing?
