T’was the Night Before Christmas Business Tips
TIPS FOR THE NEW YEAR
T’was the night before Christmas, when all through the firm
Not a worker was stirring, not even a worm
The stockings were hung by the cubicles with care
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there
The employees were nestled all snug in their beds
While visions of bonuses danced in their heads
And CFO in her Rolex, and I at my workspace
Had just settled our brains to clean up the database
When out on the roof there arose such a clatter
I sprang from my chair to see what was the matter
Away to the window I flew like a flash
Tore open the window to see what had crashed
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave luster of midday to objects below
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh and eight small men quoting Shakespeare
With a foxy, hip driver, so lively and quick
It must be Time Tamer, that crazy maverick
More rapid than eagles, her helpers they came
And she whistled and shouted and called them by name:
Now Delegate! Now Classify!
Now Streamline! Now Order!
On Minimize! On Method!
On System and Planner!
To the top of the files
To the top of the wall
Now dash away! Dash away!
Dash away all!
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the ceiling
The shuffling and movement of each helper keeling
As I drew in my head and was turning around
Down the back stairway The Time Tamer bound
She turned with a chuckle,Now if I might suggest,
Heed what I’m offering, if you want to be best
Twice daily check email, in the morning and noon
Prioritize your time, important things do soon
This tip is for all files, electronic or paper
Once every quarter, your files you must taper
Use just one calendar, for your home and your work
If you forget a kid at soccer, they will think youre a jerk
Let go of perfection, just you can do things great
Trust someone else with work, start now to delegate
Those smarter and richer are where you should hang
If you’re not doing this, find yourself a new gang
Now my best advice yet, to carry you far
Make decisions from where you want to be, not from where you are
I give you these good tips, not just to opine
I want you to succeed, in year 2009
I must take my leave now, I’ve far to go tonight
There are many more people, I must share this insight
She then sprang to her sleigh, to her team gave a whistle
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle
And I heard her exclaim, much to my surprise
