You Ordinary?
Last week as I was listening to the Inauguration coverage in the background as I worked in my office. I heard something that caused me to whip my head around and quickly look at the t.v. to see what one wise reporter just said which was:Michelle Obama is an everyday woman who is stepping into an extraordinary role.
Wow, the Truth can be told on the news after all! (wink, wink)
Now without getting into a political discussion here I do want to say how great it is to have such a role-model of woman in the white home (as they are referring to it now that she will be there rather than the white house). A woman who has had many roles in life mother, wife, daughter, career-woman and now First Lady.
I believe that seeing Michelle in the white home will be such an inspiration for all of us women who are living everyday, ordinary lives but who have extraordinary roles to play in this world.
In my work I encounter women who I know are destined for greatness and how if they stepped into their full-on power would force us to have to wear sunglasses in their beautiful light. Yet, what I hear from these fabulous women who have BIG Visions and are also raising children, managing households, and maintaining relationships with loved ones is, something that is being communicated without words actually being said and it’s this: But I’m just an ordinary woman, how could I be this remarkable?”
Key question isn’t it? Can you relate?
I can. For years I struggled with feeling ordinary based on the fact that I didn’t believe I wasgroomed appropriately for what my heart called me to do. I had a whole wheel barrel full of beliefs about how others were better, smarter, more educated, blah, blah.
And those beliefs held on for dear life keeping me small, in the shadows, and believing that I wasn’t worthy. It wasn’t until I became aware of my Truth which was the key I needed to unlock the door to my inner potential.
Notice that I said become aware I didn’t say read another book, ask someone else what I should do, have a detailed plan to get methere. Nope, I tried all those things and continually gave my power away to others which continually reinforced those limiting beliefs that I held which again were: others were smarter, more educated, and knew my answers.
It wasn’t until I stopped looking outside for answers and began to do an internal dig to find that map, that advice, that wisdom and it all lived, and still lives, within me- continually unraveling as the days go by.
And it’s living inside you too. All that brilliance, all that potential, all that wisdom and guidance. Are you ready to let it out and listen to it? Are you ready to shine in your spotlight and show the world what you’re made of and here to share?
We’re waiting- and the sunglasses are on!
