What Are the Check Points?

There are many things that can be done to make sure that the leadership does not become overwhelming. When talking about the maintenance of a team often it seems like there is too much to do to give each member attention. However it does not have to be that way.

Throughout any day there are many things for the team to get done. Did they start the day correctly? Check in and see how the day started and see if the day started smoothly or things had to be corrected.

About two hours later especially if you have heard nothing from the team take a look at some of the paperwork and ask how things are going. Is there anything unusual? Were there any problems big or small that the team solved?

Check in around lunch and see if there are any problems with people getting lunch or is that fine. Normally this is the time that the staff is running short handed because everyone needs to get a lunch. The team notices that a leader is checking in and keeping tabs on how things are going.

The afternoon is different in that now people are getting tired. This happens to everyone after having lunch there is ususally a little slump in the out put of energy. Great time to check in, gently remind to wrap up the day, have a small chat, have a smile, and praise for all that went well. Also a great time to correct anything that is off before the end of the day.

What are your check points? They don’t take a lot of time, the team will get used to these which keeps the team in check, and the team will actually miss these when they don’t happen.
