Capturing a Woman’s Attention Before and After the Sale

Women are complex creatures. How do we know? We are women. Unfortunately many people are still trying to market to women in a very masculine way. Fortunately for you, you are reading this article today which will give you insight to marketing to women.

Women believe in relationships and community. Women want to be connected in different and various ways. They don’t wanthard sell anything!Hard sell is a real turn off for women. Women want to be communicated to in a trulyauthentic way. Studies show that women respond towarmer messages that highlight the connection between real people. More than anything else, women want to know that you care about them and their uniqueness. Thesoft sell is accomplished by genuine, authentic story telling. Story telling (aka girl talk) is how women connect with each other and how they become bonded with others and with products and services. Women are phenomenal story tellers. Women tend to believe thatif a product works for someone else and they say it does, it will probably work for me, too. They think,If Mary did it, then I can do it, too. This gives women validation to try the product or service. Remember for women, story telling will always have more power to engage and interest her than any amount of narrative product description.

Women want to know that you arejust like them, that youhave been where they are now and/orhad the same problem that they have now. As your conversation unfolds, you express how you felt at the time, what hardships you encountered, what things that happened to you as a result of the problem you had, etc. Your story must pull the other person in and show them that you really know how they are feeling and what they are experiencing in their lives right now. You talk about the point where you made a change in your life, in your thoughts, or how you looked at the problem differently. You describe how it felt to make that decision and what actions you took to overcome the problem or situation. You vividly describe how it feels now that you handled it and achieved success. Women don’t want to just know thebottom line of the story. They want to know the story in detail. By sharing these details of commonality you automatically begin bonding and creating loyalty or shared experiences.

It is important that you understand that story telling has to be authentic, not contrived. It is not something that you can just make up. It has to be real, true and must come from your heart and soul. If not, a woman will see through it immediately. And if they feel you are deceptive, don’t expect them to ever listen to anything you have to say from that point forward.

Women have made and will continue to make some of the most valuable contributions to the world in which we live and they are the one of the best types of which to work. Marketing to women can be fun and can bring more than a sale to your world. You may get a friend for life.
