Managing Those Projects

When large or complicated projects come up, we sometimes feeloverwhelmed, and then we get nothing done. Here are some simple strategies to get a handle on them.

1. Think of all of the areas of your project and their related tasks. Brainstorm with others in your business or group, or just yourself, putting one idea per post-it and place the post-its on a large sheet of easel paper taped (painters tape) to the wall. All tasks should be written in the past tense, for example “website live, 11/15″ or “training manual written, 11/10″.

2. After all of the ideas are up, put dates on each post-it, starting with the LAST item that needs to be done. Trust me, it is easier to put deadlines if you work backwards.
