2 Ideas to Keep you Motivated Throughout the Year

Now is the time to put in place what you need to keep yourself motivated throughout the year to come. When the excitement of a new year wears off, and you are finding it hard to remain encouraged, what you do now can mean the difference between forging ahead and staying stuck.

Last year I made a commitment to grow my business by focusing on reading books and articles where I could learn from successful entrepreneurs, every day. For the most part, I put my fiction books aside and concentrated on those materials that would benefit my business.

I am a book lover and giving up my fiction books just about killed me. I decided that I couldn’t do that anymore, so my Christmas list asked for two books from audible.com to download to my ipod: Outliers: the Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell and The Success Principles by Jack Canfield. I listen to my books every morning at the gym, get inspired, learn new ideas for my business and actually look forward to my exercise; if you can believe that! This way of learning saves time, and exposes me to more books than I would ever have the time to read.

Another way to stay motivated is to join a Mastermind group. Last year I created one with five other women, from different industries, who are committed to their own success as well as the success of the other members. We meet once a month for a full day and once a month for dinner. Each quarter, we escape for a weekend getaway to accomplish what we can’t get done in a day meeting, as well as to have some fun with each other. These are the people who give me a different perspective, feed me ideas, give me a kick in the pants when I need it and celebrate my accomplishments with me.

Start asking around if someone you know is in a Mastermind group that you could join or create one yourself. There is nothing like getting out of your own head and receiving the support of others to keep you moving forward.
