Why EVERYONE Should Network And How To Get Started
As a child, where did you go when you had a question? Who had all the answers? Most will say their parents; some will say
the teacher, pastor or clergyman. What
do these people have in common? They were
connected from years of life experiences or leadership in a school, church or community. Have you ever used a service because they
were recommended? When you are looking
for a good plumber or electrician, the most common way to find one is by asking
someone you trust if they know one? Am I
Right? If you want people to KNOW YOU, Get Connected! If you want to be prepared in life, Get Connected!
Having a powerful network whether you need something today
or tomorrow is very important but not everyone realizes Networking is not just
for Business Owners and Sales People.
Although it is a crucial part of owning a business and increasing sales,
it is important to have a strong network in everyday life as well. You want to know who to call before you need
their product or service. You want to
know who is going to give you a fair price or knowledgeable advice before you
need them. You need to know they are coming highly recommended and how to find
them. Depending on your reason for
networking will depend on the organization you need to join. But, you need to Get Connected!
When you or someone you love needs a job, needs to find an
attorney, needs to buy a house or needs to fix one up, you want to already be connected! The more people you are connected to in life
the stronger your success at anything you want to accomplish. Should you decide
to write a book, start a new business, develop a piece of land you own, get
married or start a family, the more resources you have will help you more easily accomplish your
goals. Most moms and dads are here today
to help, and at 48 I am still calling mine weekly for their advice, but when
they are gone, we all need a strong network to carry on in their place. It is our responsibility to build our own
strong network for a successful future.
I started our business EFTS Inc., almost 7 years ago with my
husband and we joined the Chamber, got involved with the Community Service
Committee and began to network. Soon
after, we both joined BNI (Business Network International) for resources and
referrals and got very involved in leadership.
At present I am the Managing Director of the Boston North
Shore chapter of
eWomenNetwork. I have not left the other
organizations, just added to my network.
We have built our business by word of mouth networking and relationship
building. My connections range from
Dr.’s, Attorneys, Bankers and CPA’s to Plumbers, Electricians and
Landscapers. I know them personally and
know they will take care of me and the people I refer to them. I love to help people
