(USDOL, online) The onset of summer, flowers, and sunshine however is the perfect time to remind people that despite the highs and lows of the economic currents, your future belongs YOU.If you are unsettled, now is the time to consider starting your own home-based business.
Months ago Irealized this myself, when I remembered that no one could down size, right size or outsize you except for YOU. Listen to your inner entrepreneur.This mantra has personal relevance as this June marks the one-year anniversary of a time when I myself was unsure of my career stability and professional trajectory. You could call this the beginning of the downsizing, down turning, and depreciation that continues to sweep family, market, and workforce in our society. I witnessed so many of my bright and talented colleagues turn to worry and panic in fear of not what might happen; but when.
As a veteran in sales and no stranger to the employment process, I used the time off of work as an opportunity to gain control over my career change, before my career change gained control over me. I reviewed job descriptions and took some interviews but noticed myself running through these motions with a heightened awareness and an observation different from previous periods in my life. My mindset makeover was the product of a hard-to-ignore waning economy and a hard-to-admit transforming industry; factors that caused me to rediscover my inner entrepreneur and take the fate of my future into my own hands.
I returned to my entrepreneurial roots and established a home-based business with low overhead. My servicesinvolve consulting, coaching and developing training programs. By year-end, with minimal effort and the ‘gift of a go-getter attitude’ I had matched my husband’s annual salary in just a 6 month trial period. The work involved the same skills that my corporate experience required, which included, professional skill building, growing sales, and helping others build their confidence. Now the work was for my own company.My inner entrepreneur is responsible for this lovely professional place in my life.My hope isto help others identify and extract their inborn resources too! Your future belongs to YOU. Take charge!
