Get Your Body Fit!

Get your Body Fit! It really is that easy,Just Do It as the saying goes. No more excuses, no more procrastination. It is time to get dedicated to yourself, to your health and well-being.

It is time to get active and stay active, not only to look good but your health depends on it. The Surgeon General’s Report on Physical Activity and Health says thatSedentary living is comparable to smoking a pack of cigarettes a day. According to the report, 250,000 persons suffer premature death annually due to lack of physical activity, approximately the same number who will die from smoking one pack of cigarettes a day! Now this is some serious stuff.

There are hundreds and hundreds of studies on the health benefits of exercise. This particular report notes that regular physical activity can help reduce the risk and/or control symptoms for a variety of diseases and degenerative conditions including cancer, heart disease and depression. Regular physical activity can reduce the risk of heart disease, developing diabetes, high blood pressure, colon cancer, etc. It not only helps to control weight, build strong bones and muscles, but reduces feelings of depression, anxiety and stress. There so many health benefits to list, however, it is clear there are just too many hazards of being inactive to ignore.

So where do you start. First, stop making excuses. Second, get off the couch! Get outside, get some fresh air and go for a walk, ride a bike, go for a run, go to the gym, or stay inside and run up and down your stairs, just do something! It doesn’t take much to be active, just your decision to do it. There are thousands of options for being physically active, pick one and do it regularly for a minimum of thirty minutes at least three times per week. That is all it takes to get started and to make physical activity part of your lifestyle. Put yourself back on the priority list!

Another option is to write out your daily schedule and find where you can realistic put in ten, fifteen, twenty minutes a day to move your body with intention and intensity. Yes, you can still reap the benefits of physical activity in as little as ten minutes per day! It will boast your mood and your metabolism!

Remember there is strength in asking for help, so do talk to your health care provider, or call the local community centre, fitness facility, or certified personal trainer, all will help you to facilitate your goals to better health.

You can change how you look and feel, it is all up to you, it is YOUR choice.
