Who or What Are You A Slave To?
It is a terrific leader that knows there will be emotions at work at all times. In any given day we will not know what any employee has gone though while away from work. these emotions play a part in work performance. I know ” leave work at work and home at home”. Good luck. it doesn’t work.
Concerning emotions we often ask teams or employees to get psyched up and have enthusiasm. These are emotional. So if it’s OK to ask them to be up and positive it is only right that we will also understand when people get down. Being aware of this as a leader serves well. Noticing the moods of the employees gives the leader to redirect negative energy. If it is not redirected it can get pretty intense at times. Even if it doesn’t get intense, it affects work by having energies down.
If there are frustrations during the day it is good to remind people that solving problems is part of there job and not every day will be smooth. A great way to talk about it is when the problem is solved will your life still be affected. In this way it brings into thought that nothing has to consume the whole day. Employees need to know they can voice their frustrations but in a way to work through it with the leader. Also there are times to just let an employee take a walk. Walk it off so to speak.
The worse thing that can be dome is to not listen and to squash the emotion. This will just give the message that the employee is not cared about. This does not take tomes of time. It is being in touch with the people doing the work.

What is a Slave? A slave is a person who is the property of, and subject to another; a bondservant, a person entirely under the domination of some influence or person. Slaves always have something or someone controlling their lives.
What are some things that a person can be a slave to? Let’s take a look:
Automobiles A car will put you into debt if you try to get the fastest, most expensive, or the most popular version instead of something that is affordable, or economical (and I’m also talking about those cars that have a stereo system’ that’s worth more that the car itself). A motor vehicle will keep you away from church & family while it gets your attention cleaning, polishing, tweaking and updating it’s every physical and mechanical composition.
Children Yes, your children can make you their slave in more ways than one. Baseball games, soccer, music lessons, ballet, basketball, drama and the list could go on and on. Now there’s nothing wrong with desiring that your child should have better than you did, but do let it be the decision of the child. Also those of you who are divorced’ or separated’ parents; don’t try to do everything that you can to do be the child’s friend by trying to fill in the gap’ of the other missing parent. Children can manipulate us if we allow them to. It’s OK to befriend our children, but we must remember that we are the parents and we have a commission to train our children in the way that they should go.
Drugs Alcohol, Cigarettes, Tranquilizers, Pain Killers, Sedatives, Hashish, Marijuana, Codeine, TCP, Smack, Crack and the list goes on. Such drugs have caused numerous families grief, separation, financial burdens, and even death. What started out as just an experiment’ at one time; may have turned into a dependency with prolonged use.
Food Eating when you’re not hungry. Consuming too much or the wrong types of foods will enslave you to other medical ailments such as obesity, heart trouble, diabetes, high blood pressure, bulimia and even death.
Time Management When you waste precious time that you cannot retrieve; then you are subject to time deprivation (a condition of loss, hardship). Always being late for appointments is oppressive.
TV Television has become a form of babysitting’ and a tool to lure people away from improving their minds by reading, outdoor activities or challenging their brains. This visual suppression also includes playing video games, watching DVD’s and yes, even being on the Internet too long will affect your body, mind and your time management. And guys, just how manysports channels do you really need to put a wedge between you and your loved ones?
Shopping Ladies (and some men) let’s not be under the dominion of a Charge Card’, aone-day-sale or temptation of buying something that we don’t need or can’t afford.
There are other influences that can put us into bondage if we allow them to. The main solution to avoiding slavery is to concentrate on servitude. Serving God & other people helps us in healthier relationships. (Psalm 84:10)
This writer would rather be a Servant (a person in the service of another) of The Most High God and follow in the footsteps of Biblical persons such as Paul & Silas (Acts 16:17) or Shadrach, Meshach, & Abednego (Dan. 3:26); than to be a Slave to someone or something that may be harmful to my life my and relationship with God. Think about it, even Politicians are calledPublic Servants.
Let’s show some love today
