Haiti and God

In case you’ve been out-of-town and out of touch, there was a devastating 7.0 Earthquake in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, on Tuesday Jan. 12th, 2010. Such havoc is a sign of the times in which we live.

Pat Robertson said some untimely things on Jan. 13th and people who are hurting don’t need to hear that this destruction is from God because of what may have happened some time ago. Are we God? Who are we to judge? Why put salt into an open wound?

Ben Heine/flickrInstead of attacking a country while it’s down (even further than it was before), then why not give support to the effort of their resurrection? Why criticizewhat one person is doing to make the suffering that the people in Port-au-Prince a rescue effort. President Obama is doing what is expected of the United States and that is to take the lead in a rescue mission while helping another country that does not have the resources to help themselves.

President Obama put a spin on the words, There but for the grace of God. He knows that we could have been the people that lived in an area of mass destruction, but for the grace of God.

After attending service at Faith Christian Center here in Jacksonville, Fl., on Thursday, our prayers are that there is comfort, peace and order within the boundaries of Haiti; that there is comfort for the victims, families and loved ones of this catastrophe. God loves all those who love Him. Even the people of Sodom & Gomorrah were given a chance to repent. God is compassionate and would have spared the cities for only 10 righteous people. He’s still looking for those righteous men and women. Are you among that number?
