Inspirational Poetry: Women Survivors Celebrate Healing Journeys

When Mary McManus, Diva Toolbox contributor, was faced with the challenge of post
polio syndrome, a progressive neurological disease, she turned to writing
inspirational poetry overflowing with messages of love, hope, healing and spiritual
freedom. She experienced transformation of mind, body, and spirit and went on to
run the 2009 Boston Marathon. Her poems and journey touched the lives of Alicia
Staley, three-time cancer survivor, and Janice Pero, incest survivor. Their
journeys to overcome some of life’s greatest challenges reflect how the
indomitable human spirit not only survives but thrives. These three women will
celebrate their healing journeys and read selections from the inspirational
poetry of Mary McManus at Cafe Life Alive in Lowell, MA on October 16 from 4-5 pm.
