Healthy Eating Travel Tips
Whether you are on the road a lot for business, vacationing or traveling to see family eating, healthy while on the go can be difficult. Here are a few helpful tips to help you stick to your diet:
Be prepared, plan ahead. If you know that you will have time to sit, pack a little lunch to take with you.Sandwiches, fruit, veggie sticks and water makes for a delicious meal.Wraps are quick and easy to make; and they travel well, too.
Take convenient snacks. It seems that many food companies are coming out with single-size packages now.Take advantage of this and bring a few with you.Nabisco’s 100 Calorie Packs and granola or power bars are wonderful. How about taking some cottage cheese in a disposable container and topping it off with some berries for a delicious snack?!
Read the menu before sitting down. Before sitting down in a restaurant or fast-food place, take a look at their menu.Do they offer a “lite menu”?How is their salad selection? Are they willing to substitute starchy food items for double the vegetables?
Seek and you shall find.Instead of the fast-food joint, how about stopping the little food stands. Many of them offer healthier items such as fruit, salad, yogurt, baked chips, wrapsand organic drinks. You may have to look a bit harder to find them, but they are everywhere.
