Smart Ways to Give Your Wardrobe a Lift for Spring
Now that Spring is finally here, it’s time to look for smart ways to brighten your wardrobe. Here are a few ideas to get the most of your dollars and to best extend those great pieces that you will love forever!
First of all, lets quickly review what’s hot and what’s not for Spring:
The pop colors are pastel, neon and tropical hues of yellows, pinks, greens and oranges. Black and white are everywhere and why not? They are great colors that most anyone can wear in some combination. The neutral colors are greys, earthtones and blacks. Watercolor prints and animal prints are on the “in” list. Solemn, monochrome and heavy are all out.
The cuts are loose, drapy, rolled and assymetric (as in the one shoulder inaugural ball gown worn by Michelle Obama). Boyfriend jackets, shirtdresses and skirts are great everyday staples, while bolero pants and jumpsuits are on the list of the trendy girls. Speaking of trendy, if you have been dying to wear those shoulder pads from the 80′s, go ahead and start now because they will be everywhere by Fall.
As far as shoes, Yves San Laurent has started the “cage” version of the gladiator sandal and it is everywhere now along with open toed shoes, sandals, and wedges of every height. And mile high anything! There are also great flats that are very cute and wearable.
The trend for jewelry is either chunky and embellished or bangle bracelets and layered necklaces. The LBD rule is that if you are tall, you will have a better chance to wear the chunky jewelry, where more petite women will do better with the layered look.
Jeans are everywhere from tight to bell bottom. Find a fit that works for you and go with it.
Add a scarf or a bracelet and you are ready to go! Have fun!
