Dress with Intention

Once your closet is cleared of the items which are not aligned with your spirit, intention and appearance, it is time to do an inventory and make a list of those items which are missing and/or you desire to call into your life.

Manifest instead of shop

I have a confession to make, I actually don’t like to shop in the traditional sense of the word. I prefer to use the magic of intention for those items I desire, be it in my closet or home.

It is so much more fun to look at what I desire and put myorder into the Universe, to quote The Secret (link to the site).

TIP:

Buy a fun file folder and play with ripping out ideas you see in magazines or catalogs. I have one for Fall and Spring/Summer. I then review all the items I ripped out and pin up the ones which really get me excited.

It really works:

Last summer I was in a bit of a rut and really wanted to get in touch with having some fun and excitement. Using the style system of Fashion Feng Shui (trademark and link), I set the intention that I desired more of the element of FIRE in my wardrobe. Now, I love shoes, and I love to work with accessories. It came to me red shoes! With the intention set, and here is the key ladies to co-creating ready? let it go! Once you set the intention, let it go stop asking, looking anddoing. I should let you know, I have a small foot and finding shoes which fit, are comfortable and not millions of dollars is a tall order.

Off to Florida I went to the annual international conference for image professional. I believe it was the first day I went into Neiman Marcus and there they were, Kate Spade, red (the perfect shade) sandals, in my size, so comfortable and on sale (added bonus because I would have bought this regardless of the price). I was off the chart happy! I wore them almost everyday with several different looks and felt a spark of excitement having them on my feet.

Superficial?

Now some of you may be thinking that it is just a shoe, or how superficial, for those of you who know me I am anything but superficial and love to find meaning in all I do. I happen to love beautiful things for my home, office and wardrobe and believe when I am surround by the things I love my energy shifts and I feel empowered in all areas of my life. Plus I am co-creating with the Universe in all areas of my life even my closet.

Where to begin?

Inventory your now clutter free closet. Do you have the foundational pieces?

Remember these are the foundational items which you can build upon season after season.

Taken from Evana Maggiore, author and creator of Fashion Feng Shui,The Power of Dressing with Intention.

1 outwear coat for each season – color should harmonize with your hair for “visual balance”

1 Dress (solid or patterned) – color should harmonize with your eyes to fortify “integrity and communication”

1 jacket + matching Skirt and/or Trousers – should harmonize with your eyes to fortify “integrity and communication”

1 coordinating jacket

1 pair of jeans – focus on making sure they fit, flatter and make your feel fabulous!

1 long sleeve blouse or shirt – have this color harmonize with your skin tone

5 solid knits or woven tops with varying necklines and sleeve length

4 pairs of footwear with varied styling and/or heel height for sport, casual, dress and boots

1 handbag (day to evening) – color should harmonize with your hair for “visual balance”

Make a list, this is your order to the Universe, what is missing and what is it you desire?

Pull ideas from magazine, catalogs or the internet. Set your intention on the items which really get you excited, ones that will make you feel fabulous everytime you put it on.

Then let you intention go, don’t force it, know that you put your order in and that it will be delivered at the perfect time and in the perfect way. Have fun noticing how the universe begins giving you hints and nudges to walk into a store or pick up a certain catalog. I would love to hear any stories you have as you build your wardrobe with joy and ease!
