Five Smart and Easy Ways to Recession-Proof Your Style

I don’t know about you, but with the current state of financial uncertainty, just about everyone I know is being a little more cautious about their non-essential purchases.Well, here’s a few tools for your diva toolbox on looking your best without blowing the budget!

First of all, buy quality, not quantity.Don’t waste your money buying cheap items that are overly trendy or poorly constructed.Instead, find one piece that is of a beautiful and timeless fabric and construction.Notice that I said “timeless” not “classic.”Find something that you will love year after year instead of the latest trend.

Second, invest in good foundation.Whether you are wearing a tee shirt or a silk blouse, if the foundation is wrong, it just looks bad!Get a professional foundation fitting to be sure that your bras fit properly and that your shapewear is comfortable and supportive. You will look your best in the body you have and whatever clothes are in your closet will look their very best.

Third, use accessories as a way to update an outfit.Accessories can easily be removed from an outfit and changed from season to season. It is also possible to find high quality accessories which can often be worn across multiple outfits for substantially less than a new outfit.

Fourth, clear your closet of clutter.Be honest,do you have three or more sizes of clothing in your closet?I honestly do not expect that you need more than one or two sizes.Donate the rest to a worthy organization…there are a lot of people out there who really need those clothes right now and you will gain sanity in your closet!

And finally, once you are done with your closet restructure, look at what pieces need alterations and cleaning.Utilize all the pieces in your closet by keeping them in their best condition and ready to wear. This will allow you to make the most of what you have and make well educated choices on what you actually need.

Now, put a smile on your face, add some attitude to your step and get it!Choose not to participate in the rumored downturn but look to the opportunities looking your best!
