Finding the Right Shoe….

Finding the Right Shoe: It’s All About Comfort, Style and Value!

It always seems that when I’m not looking for shoes, I will find endless great shoes that fit like a glove. But the day I am looking for something in particular, I can never seem to find what I am looking for. To keep the frustration low and the search manageable, here are a few “Rules of Engagement” for shoe shopping.

First of all, decide exactly what the shoes must have. Are youlooking for patent, suede or cloth? What is the heel height based on what I am wearing it with and what I will be doing? Is there a detail that I am looking for?

Pay careful attention to color and details as there are so many shades of different colors and the wrong shade that is “one note off” is a big fashion ‘Don’t’

What is your price range? Going into debt for shoes is like paying for them twice soonly buy what you can pay for. You just may need to look a little longer.

What is my cost per wear? Is this a shoe I am going to wear 3-4 times per week or is it something Iam going to wear 3-4 times in my life? If this is a shoe that will receive frequent wearing, invest in a good quality shoe.If itsin your budget and you will wear it frequently, wear them for a day or two and then consider getting a second pair so that you can alternate. The shoes willlast much longer that way.

Try the shoes on in the store but then again at home. Try them on in the evening when your feet aretheir largest.Try them on with the outfit to make sure it is a good fit. Tryboth shoeson as you would wear them, with socks or hose or tights or in barefeet.

I am abig fan ofonline shopping with free shipping both ways. That way, you try the shoes on and if they are not perfect, you return them. If yougo between sizes, consider ordering multiplesizes and trying them all.

Don’t keep shoes that are uncomfortable thinking that they will stretch out. They fit or they don’t and that’s all there is to it!

Go for high quality materials. Nearly always leather is best and the higher the quality the better. Recently I have come upon shoes with orthoticfeatures withrubber soles and that is certainly acceptable.
