Feng Shui Fabulous Valentine’s Day Tips

With Valentine’s Day coming up, I got to interview image consultant Kim Long (fashionlifeyou.com) for some great tips on finding your “essence” to help pick out the perfect outfit, plan a great date and how to ramp up your “passion” level by just being more aware of your sweetie’s energy. Here are Kim’s tips for gift ideas & how to make your Valentine’s Day (and relationship even better & take it to the next level):

  • First off, a survey done of “what women really want” stated that TRAVEL was the #1 gift that women wanted. This doesn’t need to be a trip to Europe…but CAN be a day trip to a nearby city for a show & dinner…Getting out of your normal comfort zone makes you feel more “present” & aware & heightens your senses to a whole new level. So get out of your normal routine!
  • Make sure to know your partners “essence” and what their comfort level is. Not everyone feels comfortable in Victoria Secret lingerie, but a beautifu silk robe & teddy can do wonders for some’s confidence level! It should be said this goes for the guys as well…If your significant other doesn’t “understand” this argument…have him wear a g-string for a day & have him get back to you! (Hear Kim’s story on the show!).
  • Not everyone wants to do a romantic dinner…some think kayaking is romantic! Know what makes YOU tick as a couple…NOT what society dictates to you as romantic.

Here are some quick descriptions of the 5 Element descriptions….does any of this ring true for you and/or your partner?

WOOD: ambitious, dynamic, direct, health-focused
WATER: freedom-loving, self-expression, unique
FIRE: enthusidastic, entertaining, impulsive, passionate, life of the party
METAL: analytical, appropriate, elegant, cultured, clean lines
EARTH: nurturing, confined, traditional, comforting

Keep this in mind when buying gifts or thinking of things to do on a date with any of the element personalities! A WATER person would be more comfortable water-rafting or skiing on a date, while a METAL person would rather go to the theater and an EARTH person would rather go to a charity event or volunteer…See how this works?

Kim also suggests using aromatherapy…for perfume or to add ambience to your environment:
patchouli, lavendar & cedarwood are great scents for adding romance
lavendar & gardenia are great for enhancing romance
sandalwood, patchouli & vanilla are the top scents men prefer
