The Art of Healing – How I Start My Day
For the past fifteen months, I would start my day visualizing about the Boston Marathon and focusing on upcoming fund raising events – I was consumed with two goals. In tandem with these two goals, I would journal, write poetry, blog and prepare myself mind, body and spirit to take on the challenge of a lifetime. And now, the same passion and fervor with which I achieved those two goals and the overwhelming gratitude I express to everyone who helped Team McManus, I channel into this next chapter of my life.I visualize how God can use me to touch and bless lives through my journey through the dark night of the soul. I imagine all the different ways I can reach out and touch others to help them as they go through life’s challenges. So to beg the original question – how do I start the day?
I make sure that I have time to do a morning meditation of intentions and gratitudes before my feet even hit the floor. My mind and body seem to know that I must have this time in the morning regardless of what time I need to get up to start the day. It will awaken before the alarm goes off and I take inventory. How am I feeling? Many mornings, I will feel that solar plexus clutch – thinking – and I emphasize the word thinking – about things of this world – finances, what needs to get fixed around the house and if there is fear involved, I realize that I am separated from God – for God is Love and only Love and I need to connect with that Source in order to have a smooth sailing day.
I begin by releasing all of my cares and worries to God as I pray — I see everyone who may be struggling with dis-ease of mind, body or spirit as being healthy and whole; I bless everyone who has ever touched my life’s journey and give thanks that I had the opportunity to share a part of my journey with them; I ask God to release me from fear as I breathe in peace and breathe out fear and worries. I ask God for wisdom to know what it is that I need to do this day and how I can add to the value of the world this day. I open my heart to receive all of God’s Love and then I focus on intentions and gratitude for the day.
I intend that I will create peace in myself, in my family and in the world. I intend that I look beyond circumstances and appearances and know that All is Well and in Divine Order and everything is happening exactly as it should be and focus on gratitude for all the blessings that are present in my life right now. I intend that I celebrate all who I am and that I see God’s goodness in others. I intend that I will stay focused on God’s Love and Light and allow God’s energy to flow through me to guide me as I go about my day. I intend to create time for attending to the needs of my mind, body and spirit. And true to the turtles God has sending me,(seeing turtles in the water during my runs and walks) I walk slowly, methodically with an even pace throughout my day knowing that slow and steady wins the race.
It’s a new day – a new starting line – have a great run
