Stay Focused
For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self discipline.” 2 Tim 1:7
Stay Focused
I was weeding the garden in the back of my home when a wasp came buzzing by. It was early morning and already one of those sweltering summer days in SW Florida. I labored in pulling those weeds whose roots I believe were on their way to the opposite side of the world. Yet, here comes this wasp revealing it’s stinger and looking for a victim. I kept shooing this creature away, but with persistence it returned. Eventually it accomplished its goal and stung me on the hand. The wound was throbbingandmy hand started to swell. I was ready to just give up and retreat back to my comfortable air-conditioned home when I had a revelation. I was losing my focus. I was giving the enemymy full attention. I was allowing the wasp to divert me from the work set before me, weeding my garden. So I continued to pull those weeds and with a watchful eye I stayed alert. When the work was finished, I felt I accomplished more than just a weeded garden, I had a stronger faith as well. I realized how our enemies will use anything to distractus from doing what we feel called to do. It would be easy to give up each time the enemy “stings,” but that would be exactly whatit wants. God has givenus a spirit of power to combat the enemy, not a spirit of fear to retreat.
When we don’t pull the weeds, they will grow and choke out the good growth.
What is choking yourability to grow and expand ?
Are you focusing too much on your enemies?
