Three Steps to Improving Your Mood NOW
There has been much written in the media, talked about in
books and even movies made about how what we focus on is what we get in our
lives. Negative feelings produce
negative outcomes. Positive feelings
produce positive outcomes.
- If you
focus on getting out of debt — you are still focusing on DEBT!
- If you
focus on how you may never find love –you are still focusing on NEVER
FINDING LOVE!
- If you
focus on being financially responsible and successful — you are focusing
on the POSITIVE
- If you
focus on your value and love you can bring to a relationship — you are
focusing on the POSITIVE
Perhaps how you feel about what you focus on is the key to
the kingdom?! We have so many opportunities presented to us on a daily
basis. Yet we can be so mired in our own
negativity, distraction and disbelief that we cannot see the forest through the
trees. So how to you remove this blockage?
It’s like taking that first step outside to lose weight. Get up (mentally) and do something.
Here is a great exercise to lose that
fat-head, negative, down-on-the-dumps thinking and get moving in your mind
first towards your desires. It’s called
LOVE THE MOMENT. It’s easy, it’s quick, and
it’s effective. If you don’t have this article handy, you can perform this
exercise mentally. The charm of this exercise is that you are
ALLOWING pleasant, positive, beautiful experiences into your life during those
moments.

STEP 1: Look around where you are right now. Find something
that pleases you.
Write it down
Pay attention – I
mean FULL focus – to it for at least one
(1) minute. Notice how cool, positive,
beautiful or how useful it is. You are increasing your positive feelings about
the object, situation or environment. Keep that feeling and go to the next
item.
STEP 2: Choose another object or situation that feels
positive.
Write it down
Pay attention to it for at least two (2) minutes FULL
laser focus. Notice how much you are
increasing your positive feelings about the object, situation or environment.
Focus on the beauty or novelty or special-ness of the item you focusing upon.
Keep that feeling and go to the next item.
STEP 3: Choose your final and 3rd object or situation that
feels positive
Write it down
Pay attention to it for at least three (3) minutes FULL
undivided attention. Find the absolute
best thing about the object of your appreciation. Think of how this object fits into the world
and how much good there is in the bigger picture of life.
At the end of these three (3) steps, notice how much you are
increasing your positive feelings about the object, situation or environment. Observe how your breathing has slowed down,
your pulse rate has been reduced and your mind has cleared of it’s
distractions. Make note of your improved
mood. Most importantly, use this re-set
to take notice of opportunities in which you can take action into more positive
steps in your life.
